This list is made up of the 100 highest peaks in New England (clever name, right?) Like the 4000-footer lists, each peak must have at least 200 feet of prominence from any peaks higher than it. Thus, this list is made up of the 67 New England 4000-Footers and then 33 further peaks that range from ~3700 feet to the 4000-foot threshold. All but 2 of the 4000-footers are reached by officially maintained trails, while 13 of the remaining 33 peaks on this list are officially trail-less. Many of the extra 33 are in New Hampshire and Maine, with a good number of peaks in Vermont as well.
As this list requires numerous bushwhacks (blazing one's own trail to the summit, often pushing through thick vegetation - hence the "whacking" name), it has a far smaller list of completers. I completed this list in the summer of 2014.
